IT IS MY CUMPLE-MES. (like birthday ish thing? it's huge in missionary world) holla. 2 MONTHS! crazy. i honestly cant believe it. except sometimes I'm like, i have only been here for 2 months.. haha and then I'm like, I'VE BEEN HERE FOR TWO MONTHS ALREADY? roller coaster i tell you.
okay let's start with a bit of a story. Saturday. august 10th. I'm walking up my mountain with my comp. and we see this crazy lady that we always see who's always drunk and such. she comes up to us and starts yelling like, why are you guys here! what do you want! why do you come here every day!? (and more stuff but my Spanish isn't up to par to understand drunk people quite yet) and there are these three boys next to us who are just like, this lady is nuts.. so we kinda just walk around her right? next thing we know, the three boys are like, ''RUN THE LOCA IS COMING WITH ROCKS!'' so i turn around. yup. crazy lady is coming at us with rocks/boulders in her hands screaming in Spanish. not joking. so i start BOOKING it up the mountain, and she throws a rock.. misses us. like I've never ran so fast in my life. in a dress. with a backpack. and my missionary shoes. so me and my comp are running.. other random people are running.. then my comp.. not as much of a gym rat as me obvi (joke?) yells (from like 20 feet down the mountain) that she can't run anymore.. and so i kinda stop and look at my comp and the lady catches up to her.. and starts yelling again.. telling her we have to pay her money or give her our shoes? no idea. something weird. anyways, long story short.. two of our investigators come down the mountain, the dad calms her down bit and we walk away with them as she's still screaming at us. NUTS. i now give you permission to laugh. story of the week.
other facts about here..
people just like to breast feed randomly in the middle of lessons. cant even tell you how many boobs I've seen in the past week. and people pop out children for like 40 years here.. so sometimes 60 year old women are breast feeding. this is not a lie. i swear.
the streets here are covered in dogs, cows, goats and chickens.
time here.. MEANS NOTHING. meetings start soo late. people are like, i wont be home like allllll day! and my comp goes, ok so can we come at like 4? oh yeah sure!! we'll be home then! what? ok...
little kids ask me for my food ALL THE TIME. the other day? i was walking with an ice cream cone.. this little girl looks SO depressed and asks for my cone.. so i have to give it to her. ugh. so sad.
people have shirts from America from like consignment stores.. and they have NO clue what they say.. IT IS SO FUNNY. one of the ladies in our rama has a shirt that says ''tatas under construction'' and wears it like every day. hahahaha i die.
CANT FIND PICKLES OR KIT KATS TO SAVE MY LIFE HERE. so sad. i would kill for some of those things.
man. but this week has been awesome! we had zone divisions, which means my companion for the day was a random girl in my zone. so my comp was hermana justavino from panama.. who speaks no english AND I WAS SO SCARED. but it was SO GREAT. she was so understanding of my spanish and helped my so much! such a great two days. but when i got back with my comp.. i realized how much i missed english. so I'm basically screwed when i get a comp who knows no english. whatevs.
jackson, carter- i taught my favorite little kids the thing with the can on the bike that makes it sound like a motorcycle and they are OBSESSED. carter, you would LOVE the kids here.
well, this week has been a roller coaster of scaredness and amazingness and ups and downs. but i have learned so much as always. it's harder out here than i thought it would be, but also so much more amazing than i imagined at the same time. i know that our savior and brother, Jesus Christ lives. He loves and and is aware of EVERYTHING we need, even if we aren't aware of it ourselves. When we pray with a sincere heart, our Heavenly Father will ALWAYS answer our prayers. but we need to remember that He knows what's best for us and will answer in the way that HE KNOWS is going to help us. the church is true and the book is blue y'all!
I LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH!
con amorrrrrr,
Hermana Wheat
