Oh my goodness.. I only have one hour and I feel like it will go by way too fast so here it goes.
So anti shout out to everyone because I never get letters.. even though I know it takes 2 weeks to get here.. DEAR ELDER ME! It's way hard to check all my emails in only an hour! And give me your address if you email me so I can just write you back (friends). Shout out to whoever gave me first class tickets on BOTH PLANES. Good heavens I don't know how I got so lucky but it was amazing. Just me and one other Elder were up there.. Heavenly Father must love me. Uh shout out to One Direction for being the first song I heard right when I got into Guatemala at the airport. Such a great welcome. Guatemala is GORGEOUS. like I'm seriously obsessed. Literally right outside my classroom, which is on the third floor, I have the greatest view of the temple and right behind it is this mountain COMPLETELY covered in gorgeous trees and there are always tons of clouds and it is amazing. I love it. I don't have my camera because they took it from us so it wouldn't get stolen, but honestly just look up a picture of the Guatemala City temple.. that's my view every day. I honestly am just counting my blessings because I honestly got the greatest companion!! Hermana McDonald is from Utah and played soccer at a college in Wyoming and I just seriously LOVE her. We get along so well. My district is 12 people, and they are just the greatest. 2 are from Mesa, that were on the plane with me, and one is from St. George.. so Smiths, I think you know Elder Cummings from St. George? He's awesome. My teacher is great.. she's from here and has the cutest accent. The other day she was talking to us about Justin Bieber.. because we were talking about it.. and she goes ''Justin Bieber es muy swag?'' in her little accent. SO FUNNY. I guess her other district taught her that. One of my other teachers is Hermano Solado and he is way funny. He always makes me do my British accent.. hahaha so I'm glad someone appreciates it.
Time here is so crazy.. honestly the weeks feel like days and the days feel like weeks. It's confusing but I couldn't love it more than I do.
Okay the food. IT'S GOOD. Like sometimes it's sketchy and I have no idea what I'm eating.. but we've had spaghetti and meatballs and french fries and all kinds of stuff. Eggs are for breakfast basically every day though.. it's fine but it gets old. Also.. they LOVE giving us fried bananas EW EW EW EW EW. and beans.. LOTS OF BEANS. which actually I've gotten used to since they honestly do get upset when you don't finish all of your food. Oh man.. they make SUCH GOOD BANANA BREAD though. yum. I also had a leech? the other day.. look it up.. its a fruit that looks like a sea anemone its so bizarre. but there is sometimes chocolate milk which tastes like America. I jump for joy on chocolate milk days. Like literally. everyone knows when Hermana Wheat (weird to say that) jumps, its because there's chocolate milk.
Uhm, Mom I'll have you know I wake up all on my own and it's not even hard. and yes I keep my room very clean I swear. Spanish is way hard.. but I'm learning SO MUCH so fast. Sometimes the only option you have is to try to understand what people are saying to you because there are so many people here who only speak Spanish. My mind seriously sometimes just gets in Spanish mode and I cant remember words in English so I think that's a good thing!!
Uhm the best thing ever is deportes.. It's like an hour and a half every day where we go outside and play basketball or volleyball or work out.. SO necessary to remain sane. and so much fun. We are like basically inside a way tall fence.. and sometimes the ball will go over out into the streets so the guys have to climb up to the chain link part of the fence and yell to random people like ''ayudame por favor!! pelota por favor!!'' which means help me please.. ball please! haha it's hilarious. The humidity here make me always sticky though.. so gross. Right now I'm dying because this room has no AC. but I LOVE IT HERE. honestly don't worry. and I have so much fun. Everyone is always so tired from all the hard work so everything is hilarious because everyone is slap happy. I LOVE it. Like our brains are mush.. this kid in my district the other day goes.. ''como say dice how?'' so he said how do you say how.. literally SO funny I promise.
So I started off in a room with 8 girls where we shared a community bathroom and I really liked it.. but one day one of our teachers came into our classroom and told me and Hermana Mcdonald that we had to move rooms like right after dinner.. so we go looking for our new room.. it only has 4 beds AND IT'S OWN BATHROOM! Like how in the world did I get so lucky? I honestly have no clue. It's amazing though. and now we share with Hermana Erickson and Heramana Amone.. WHO BY THE WAY is from AUSTRALIA. You best believe I am going to master that accent. She's awesome. She's 28 and a nurse so that's part of her mission is to be a nurse. Every night outside the window of our room there are guys that yell ''buenoc noches gringos!!'' which means good night white people, it's so funny.. or maybe it's because I'm constantly delirious. oh well. The showers have hot water but I usually take a cold one by choice cause I'm always hot since the only place we have AC is in the dining hall and our classrooms. So if there's no wind at night.. YOU DIE. of heatstroke. and stickiness.
The other day I got a calling!! Like only 10 people here have callings.. so I don't know why they chose me.. but I'm the music leader for our branch. So I choose the hymns and the musical numbers and the leader and the piano player and such for sacrament meeting. It may not sound stressful but when you have to take instructions from someone who only speaks Spanish with the Zone Leader.. who also only speaks English like me.. ITS CRAZY HARD. Seriously one night we were running around so confused because no one could give us instructions in English. But don't worry Sunday was perfect. We are great nbd. Mostly when people talk to me in Spanish I nod and smile and pretend I know what they're saying but 98 percent of the time I've never been so confused in my life.
Also, when I got here I think my bladder shrunk to the size of a peanut. I pee every three hours I think. My poor companion has to come with me and I feel real bad but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.
Ah SUNDAYS ARE IN ENGLISH! Except sacrament meeting.. but everything else is in English and I LOVE IT. It's a nice break.
P DAY IS SENT FROM HEAVEN. So my p day was yesterday and we get to write today.. but yesterday we got to go to the temple, which was GORGEOUS. I love how wherever I am the temple feels like home. Then you get until like 6 at night to do whatever you want. It started pouring rain.. like I mean literally pouring rain like none of you have ever seen before. I swear. So some of us played volleyball and basketball outside in the rain.. I haven't had that much fun in ages.. SOOOOOOO FUN. Like I honestly can't even describe it haha.
The spirit here is so strong. We have so many devotionals and speakers and I LOVE it, thank heavens the spirit speaks only one language because half of the time the devotionals are in Spanish.. haha I've never been so sure in my life that this is where I'm supposed to be! So don't worry about me, I'm safe (there are guards on every street corner with shot guns.. hahahaha) and SO happy! We are teaching an investigator right now, like a real one with our whole district.. and I think I know a little bit how Christ feels. I just want him to KNOW how much Christ loves him! Because He does! Remember that family:) and friends! haha
Okay wells I'm running out of time but I love you all so much and I hope y'all are having fun at home because this place is GREAT.
CON MUCHO AMOR,
Hermana Wheat
p.s. dad I saw in my Spanish dictionary that your name means place where rabbits mate
