so this week i got proposed to three times. once on the street. then we were teaching this guy (like 60 years old), and he asked me if i would marry him.. while he was shaking my hand.. when i said no, he goes, okay well my son (super drunk and has NO teeth) is single, marry him. when i said no again, he goes, ''where are you from again?'' ''uhm.. los estados unidos...'' ''oh well are there more people like you there?''... uhm that are white and speak english? yep, a couple.
those fried platano slash banana things i hated.. kind of LOVE them now. but sometimes people just boil them and feed them to you so that's NASTY. mom, you should try to feed the boys that for dinner.
did splits twice this week with people who don't speak english.. my favorite.. haha no it was good! the first time i went to her area which is SO poor. way poorer than mine. i taught almost every lesson sitting cross legged on their dirt floors and it was AWESOME. loved it. then this other girl came to my area, and she doesn't like to talk very much.. so i was senior companion and started all the lessons and stuff.. crazy scary but i learned a lot of spanish that day because i was forced to.. haha. also, senior comp = i get the cell phone. holla. i felt so cool.
also everyone here.. points with their lips. so if i get home and never point with my fingers.. sorry. it's so weird though.
okay, story and spiritualness for the week.
so, i've never had an investigator family at church.. which sucks cause that's like the goal. but we've been working so hard, so i've been hopeful! saturday we had plans to visit soo many people and have tons of people at church but it was raining. SO HARD. we were hiking the mountain and we were soaking wet and NOBODY was home. it was awful. we were defeated and upset and SOAKED. so at about 7:00 we decided just to go home because out of the 10 lessons we had planned, we only taught about half of one. sunday morning, we woke up sooo early to go bring our investigators to church, AND WE HAD TWO FAMILIES COME. it was amazing. then to top it all off, one of them tells us how her daughter got robbed and gagged last night.. in LITERALLY the exact spot hermana chinchilla and i were standing in just 5 minutes before, feeling discouraged and deciding to go home.
''I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then i will make weak things become strong unto them.'' Ether 12:27. SO TRUE. the Lord brings us down and gives us weaknesses, only to bring us back up, higher than we've ever been before.
remember, the Lord LOVES you and wants to help you, just HAVE FAITH.
